Our family of 5 stayed for almost three weeks and were happy and comfortable.
Stephanie the owner made everything easy and fun for us. Our children attended a local camp to improve their Italian, and Stephanie arranged for local teens to come and play with and tutor them in the afternoon.
We lounged in the house enjoying a daily maid service provided by a quiet, thorough and efficient young woman who even washed and ironed our clothes.
Stephanie also arranged for us to have dinner cooked at home served under the pergola by a chef, a very kind and accomodating local lady. We found these services very reasonably priced, and they made it possible for us to have a true holiday and maximize both the amount of sightseeing and relaxing we could do.
Within easy drive of the villa are the great hill towns of Umbria and Tuscany- Orvieto, Chiusi, Cetona, Montepulciano, and Cortona, Arezzo, etc., with all their fascinating Etruscan, Roman, and Renaissance art and architecture.
Stephanie was a great help to us throughout- she is a person of great charm and intelligence whose advice, assistance and friendship were invaluable. She has a deft touch with children, inspiring both respect and adoration in ours.
As for local restaurants, the pizza in Monteleone may be the best we’ve ever had – worth coming from anywhere to taste it.
Finally, we would recommend renting a small to medium size car, as the road is well maintained but not built to accommodate the huge people mover we first rented – almost any Umbrian or Tuscan country villa with a panoramic position would have this restriction.
